k well... this would suck

Well... I'm 89% sure I'm breaking some sort of copyright law... so if you're reading this and you care if I am or not, let me know and I'll take the picture off. I didn't take the picture though, and I'm not claiming to.

Anyways, this is a picture taken of a SUV in New York City (Brooklyn) that had the road disappear beneath it this morning. My favorite line in the whole article was: The driver of the SUV escaped without serious injuries but was taken to a hospital for treatment of shock...

So, go read the whole article if you want. Our potholes don't look so bad now, hey?

good times

This one will be rather short...
But I just saw "16 Blocks" with my friend Vera and it was really good!! It definitely keeps you guessing until the very end, and even then, the ending is awesome!! So, just so you know, if I forget to tell you, kudos to Bruce Willis and Mos Def because it was a really good movie. Hey I just thought of something... it's too bad that most of the time, it's the actors who get all the kudos and no one sends any warm fuzzies to the directors, or the writers.. or the screenplay guy... I guess that's what the Oscars are for.

i'm squirting salt up my nose

Well... using the wisdom that God has put in me to use... I am choosing that perhaps... PERHAPS... I should start making sure I have atleast one day off from work a week... so that I can sleep in and take care of myself. I went to the doctor again today and came out with the diagnosis of a sinus infection. A bacterial sinus infection, which is less common than say a viral one... for those of you who don't know, a cold or the common flu or most tonsillitus... those are viral things. Things you have to wait out. Less common are things like strep.. (which I had a month ago) and the sinus infection I'm fighting now. Not to go into gory details, but it's been painful and bloody and stuffy and not a lot of oxygen. So now, I'm on pink pills (which are slightly smaller than horse pills) and I have noticed a difference already. Beauty... The funny thing is, this time around the bacterial wagon, I only got one swollen, painful tonsil. The other one stayed just fine. I have half a sore throat. It's a crazy world we live in.

The doctor advised maybe I slow down because I've been getting sick too often for someone my age (sigh... it's good to be young...) so I should take better care of myself. And I will. Soon.

Ah yes, getting to the salt. The doctor also said to get a saline nasal spray to moisturize my nose and get some of the gunk flowing because I've been having a lot of blood come out and it's cuz it's so dry up there. Good times. But on the container it said, "Sodium chloride solution".... Good ol' NaCl. SALT. I laughed. And then was slightly disgusted because the salt water went up my nose and then down my throat and did in fact, taste just like salt water. (which it is)... redundant, I know.

I am done now. To bed with me. Up early with me tomorrow morning. Alas... such is life. Basically I just wanted to tell everyone i'm squirting salt up my nose.

DAY 6: Au revoir à Edmonton

Well... today I fly out. I already checked in, I already booked my seats, they know how much luggage I'm bringing home with me, and... I'm packed. So now I wait. Amanda's in school again, and I got up really late this morning... 11:20 am actually... I was awake way before that, but there was people studying and doing homework at the kitchen table and I didn't want to waltz past them in my pajamas and shower stuff. Which, funny story, when I bolted from my room to run to the bathroom to shower because I could hear them talking and I thought they were going to come in the front door... no no... they were in Amanda's room... so I had to nonchalantly walk down the hall after my sprint through the living room because her room's right at the end of the hall. I stayed in the shower good and long and then when I came out, they were somewhere else in the dorm so I was okay to hide in my room and get dressed for the day. (I was wearing pajamas again so I wasn't making these sprints naked or anything... and done.)

So, I fly home today... and go back to work Thursday. I need a haircut, which I'll try and get tomorrow... oh, wait, maybe not. Never mind, anyways, I work again on Thursday. So... today, I leave! It's been fun!

DAY 5: Shopping in Edmonton

Yes, you've guessed it. Today I went shopping. I took 10 million buses that each took an hour... I got a ride from a stranger... and I think I have a blister on one of my toes. But... I found some clothes, I sort of figured out the West Edmonton Mall... and I ate at Bourbon Street. Did I find a lot of things? No. Did I accidentally wander into all the expensive name-brand stores and then have to have a calm face when someone was helping with sizes and I finally saw the price tag...? Yes. Am I tired? Yes. And looking back, I didn't buy a ton of things for me. But I like what I bought. And I didn't spend too much money... so all round, I'm happy. And tired. I fly back tomorrow. So, I'm going to relax tonight with Amanda... sleep in tomorrow... and fly home. It's been fun.

DAY 4: Relaxing in Edmonton

Well... last night I was up really late watching a movie with Amanda. And then her roommates proceeded to come home at different intervals of the night, the last one being at 3:30 in the morning... really loudly. So not a lot of sleep, but hey! I'm on vacation!

We went to church this morning... a very good walk, indeed. I've had two cups of coffee and I'm now going to have food! Amanda's going out and I'm going to stay in and relax. The plan is that tomorrow I'm going to go to the mall and shop because Amanda's in school until 5 pm. Good times!!! So, I'm going to go have some fun relaxing in Amanda's dorm.

DAY 3: Adrenaline in Edmonton

Well, last night we ended up going to the Water Park in the West Edmonton Mall! So much fun!! It was awesome! I had a ton of fun! After several slides though, I had to stop because it's several flights of stairs and my knee couldn't do it. But no worries, there's the amazing wave pool that reminds me of the ocean that you can play in. Being the nerd that I am... I discovered that the waves go for about 7 minutes every 15 minutes. Yup I timed it. Laugh if you want, I know I'm a nerd.

Anyways, so we were all exhausted and slept in really late this morning. Then, today we went to the West Edmonton Mall and Amanda's roommates all shopped. And Amanda and me went to the amusement park and rode the rides. I have a picture of me and Amanda on the roller-coaster, which should be emailing to me soon. YAY!!! Anyways, so then we kept riding rides and we saw the fire-breathing dragon and the #5 flamingo. (Ask Amanda!) Oh, and we went into the Haunted House (we snuck in, actually... without paying.) But then, it scared us both so bad that I paid for it afterwards. Seriously, I had my ears plugged and I was screaming at the top of my lungs. It was pitch black and spiders fell from the ceiling and you had to feel your way along and loud noises... both of us were terrified. And then you'd think you hit a dead end or the END and no... you have to keep going. Hell on earth, that's what it felt like. But it was awesome!!

Now, while her roommates go out, we're going to watch "Proof" and hang out. I'm excited. Tomorrow, I'm going shopping by myself at the West Edmonton Mall... that way I can shop where I want and take as long as I want and not have to wait for anyone.

DAY 2: Lost in Edmonton

Well... I slept in today. And that was beautiful. And then, since Amanda's going to school this whole day... I decided that I was going to be adventurous. How big can one city be, right? Right. So, at around lunch, I decided I was going to go see a movie. What movie? "Failure To Launch". It was really good... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

So, asking one of Amanda's roommates for bus directions, I got on a bus and headed downtown. The bus driver, helpful as he was, pointed out when we got downtown, just incase the big buildings and one-way streets and giant sign saying "DOWNTOWN" didn't give it away. And then I proceeded to get lost in the mall. Not the West Edmonton Mall... no no. This one was smaller. But, it was huge to me. 4 floors. 2 different sides, an east side and a west side separated by buildings. Much like the City Centre Mall downtown in Winnipeg, only much bigger and much more confusing. I went to see "Failure To Launch" on the 3rd floor, and then after it was over, and I had to find a bathroom quick or certain organs would burst, I had to go all the way to the Food Court on the Basement level for the bathroom because I couldn't find any other ones.

That task accomplished, (ooh and before the movie I went and bought 2 computer games), I went outside to take a bus back. Sounds simple right? WRONG. I discovered that I didn't know how to get back. Amanda had driven me to a nearby mall to catch the #1 to downtown... but if I got on the #1 where I got dropped off, I had to sit on it while it went all the way across town and then finally made the loop back through where Amanda dropped me off. And I knew that there were buses that go past Amanda's school. So, after walking around and trying to read maps for bus routes in the cold... BECAUSE IT'S SNOWING HERE... I asked a friendly bus driver, and two buses later, I was dropped off just down the street from her school. HA ZAA!! I did it! I had fun!

I have no idea what we're doing tonight, but I know that tomorrow we're going to the West Edmonton Mall and riding roller coasters and shopping and all that awesome stuff!! Have fun guys, in your weather... because I think it's about the same here.

PS> I will add pictures to all of this eventually when I get home... but for right now, you can just hear the stories!
