geniuses... that's what we all are.

Pull-ups Cool Alert.

That's what I'm writing about because I just saw them on a commercial and now I'm intrigued. The idea is when the kids pees their pants, the diaper cools and they know they've peed. Super, right? What the heck deal does that do? "Okay, son, don't pee yourself or you're going to get cold down there." And, how does it get cold anyways? Should we worry about frostbite? "Umm... sorry son, you won't be needing that anymore. It froze off." Just joking, but anyways...

So, I looked into it.

How does Cool Alert™ work?
When the child wets the pant, sorbitol crystals dissolve, which cools the urine in the patch. When the cool urine in the patch contacts the skin, the child feels the coolness. This cool feeling is similar to the change you feel when touching cool tap water. The pants remain cool for a few minutes.

Sorbitol is a sugar-like material that occurs naturally in fruits such as apples, plums, cherries and pears. It is commonly used as a sweetener in gum and in low calorie foods. In cosmetics, sorbitol is frequently used as an emollient (skin softener).

Well... good. We're going to get them addicted to sugar this way... and they'll just absorb it into the skin. Should we be worried that this sugar gets cold as soon as it gets wet? And that this sorbitol is in gum and cosmetics? I'm just joking, I know what sorbitol is.

Why do the pants have snowflakes on the inside?
The snowflakes are a visual aid you can use to talk to your child about how PULL-UPS® Training Pants with Cool Alert™ get cool when wet. Unlike PULL-UPS® Training Pants with Learning Designs®, the snowflake graphic does not fade when wet, and that portion of the pant does not get cool. The pants do, however, have external fading graphics to help make it easier for Mom to know when the child is wet.

So, "It's okay hunny... pee on the snowflakes. There's snow in your underwear, so when you pee, you're going to get frostbite. Don't worry though, the picture will eventually fade and hopefully I'll notice... at some point during the day."

How do I know if my child is feeling the cool effect of Cool Alert™?
Watch your child for signs of feeling cool. These signs may include:
~Walking funny after wetting
~Stopping activity and stand still
~Making a funny face
~Pulling on the pant more than usual

Well... it's okay. If the kid starts walking funny or standing still, or making a funny face... assume it's the snow in his pants, not that he's just a kid being odd. Good luck kids! You're either going to be potty-trained to avoid winter in your underwear, or turn into hypochondriacs.

gotta love the third planet from the sun

Today, I was driving down Lagimodiere and every one stopped for a bunch of geese to cross the road. A fast road, 80 km/h, and everyone stopped. There was like 12 geese walking across the road, and then everyone stopped. It was close to rush hour too, and the world came to a standstill while the geese walked across. I loved it!! Everyone, in their rush to get wherever, stopped in their busy schedule for the geese.

Funny story was I didn't notice and had to swerve around them and kept on going at 80 km/h and I didn't stop for them. But the rest of the world did and that gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

who let the crazees out... who? who? who?

So last night... I went for a walk with a friend at like midnight... First we walked to this park and looked at the stars.... then we walked to the ruins in St. B and sat and got creeped out by the cemetery and the mass quantity of drunk people that just converged onto the ruins within minutes. Then... we walked some more.

And then I dared her to lie down on the middle of the road. Not a busy road, mind you, because it was 1 am by this time and it's not a busy road to begin with.. but she's not the daredevil type. She's not the crazy, let's play knock-knock-ginger type. She's a musician. She's smart. She's not like me. So anyways, I dared her to, and maybe because it was late... or maybe because I used the "you only live once" line... to which she could have answered, "I don't want that to be over now!!", but she didn't. We lay down in the middle of the road!!

For all of two seconds before we both panicked and got up and ran to the sidewalk of safety. Even though there were no cars out on that street. It was great fun... and adrenaline-rushing... and then she drove home and I went to bed. Such was my night last night, after I was supposed to be relaxing on the couch at home. Good times had by me!

sleepsy time

So... I've been relaxing at home, except for doing some shopping at the mall with Bec. We had some fun times and I got some good stuff. Actually, right now I'm going blank on what I got... oh wait, I got a really cool pair of shoes. That was a good purchase... they're not exactly skater shoes like I would prefer, but I'm trying my best to dress up.. so it's good.

Tonight, I'm at home. I've watched a couple movies since last night, "Don't Say A Word" and "Enemy at the Gates"... and right now I'm watching "Treasure Planet". Yes... different movies. I like all of them very much... (that sounded nerdy) but, I like all 3. Yes, I have seen them before. But it's good. I work a lot in the next several days, and in the days past... so I'm looking forward to staying right where I am on the couch and relaxing. And incase you're curious, my favorite character off Treasure Planet is Morph.

here's the buzz on the street...wait, with me

Yes, my friends... it's that time again. The time where time actually seems to stand still, and yet, race ahead, unknowingly taking me with it. The time where hours seem to take days, and yet take only 60 minutes at a time. The time... where my body is buzzing. Not because of too much to drink or eat or something retarded like that.... because I'm really really tired. So, now, when I get into the bed... not only am I so tired that I don't want to move to pull the blanket over me, but my body's got this buzzing thing going on where it's like... "I stopped wanting to move hours ago, stupid. Stop making me work without sleep!" And then I go, "I'm too tired to argue with you. We only have like 6 hours if you fall asleep right now before we have to go work another 12 hour shift... so shh." And then, sometimes I fall asleep. Sometimes I watch the hours pass as my brain shifts through all the things I have to do in the next 48 hours. And sometimes... well, I don't have another "sometime" so I'm going to go leave to catch my bus.

But tomorrow morning... I'll be asleep still... because I asked for tomorrow off. I'm working the weekend... but Friday. Beautiful day of all days... I think I'll get closer to 8 hours of sleep. Mmm... hush little buzz, we've got to go to work now.

just another day in the loony bin

i finally have a day off again...

Monday, July 10, 2006

well... hey. Shame on me.

I've written about this before, and I'm writing about it again. And, maybe it's a case of: "First time, shame on them; second time, shame on you".. but hear me out.

I went to 7-11 again to get lunch today, and I wanted taquitoes. It's fast, it's relatively close to being less than a million dollars, and what the heck... I don't have to make anything. So off I went.

Then, I get there. I wanted 2 Monterey Jack Taquitoes. Sadly, these were not ready. Not, somewhere in my brain, I took that to meant, they weren't fully cooked yet... you know? Meaning, it took care and effort to coax these little guys into something edible.

But, then the 7-11 guy tells me, "Oh wait a second, we can just put these in the microwave." Ah, yes, and then a little light bulb goes off over my head. The warming oven that these yummy taquitoes are sitting in... is just that. A warming oven. My prized taquitoes are like hotdogs... already cooked. They sit in the little rolly thing and wait. For me. For Joe. For the next guy who walks through the door and makes it jingle.

But, thing is... we could technically eat them already. Because they're done. They've been done for a while. How long? No one knows. I bet before they go to the oven, or in my case today, the microwave, they could be sitting there. Waiting. Cold. Done. Fully cooked for life.

I still ate them. Like anything that goes into the microwave instead of an oven, it was mushier and not so crunchy. But I ate them.

WHO WON? ITALY!!

ITALY!!
They won 2-0 against Germany on July 4... and they won against France yesterday!! It was 1-1 until the penalty kicks at the end and then Italy won 5-3 in the PKs. YEA ITALY!!!

and again...

That's right, I saw it yesterday!! I was part of the $132 million that was spent opening weekend to go see Pirates of the Caribbean 2. And I liked most of it! There were some parts involving Davy Jones and his crew that was completely disgusting, especially when something grew out of one guy's face... BLech. But, it was a good movie, and now I don't want to wait until the 3rd one comes out!!

for Catherine Almeida

Seeing as how this is the only way me and you communicate recently!!!, then I'm leaving you a message on here. I miss you. I haven't actually hung out with you since you came back from Europe, and I miss you. So! I'm sorry I went to see Click without you, I'll see it again, because, according to my blog, it was amazing! Anyways, bella, have a really great... whatever time of day it is when you read this. I'm really glad you're my friend. And my excuse for being sappy right now is that I'm tired and need to go to bed.

yes, I was at the movies again.

Yes, folks, it's true, I went to the movies again. First off, I'd like to say that "Click" was amazing! Yes, I did cry near the end a lot! It was really good, and Adam Sandler did an amazing job! I think it was hilarious and yet, such a good drama as well! Totally amazing! Of course there were parts that were a little gross, like the dog humping the stuffed animal, but that's Adam Sandler's humor for you that you take with a pinch of salt! Some of it was really funny! And the dramatic parts made me cry, as I already mentioned so go see it, it's worth the money.

I also saw "The Break-Up", and that one is not all fun and games. They did a really good job of making the storyline seem real, like it actually happens, because anyone who's been through a break up could relate. So, it was really good that way! It doesn't have the typical Hollywood ending. It had a real-life ending, (not that it would end sad so don't think I spoiled it for you), but watch the movie, it's worth your time.

oy with the poodles already...

I can't remember what day it is today. Yes, I know now, it's Sunday, but for expression' sake, I have not known fully what day it is in a long time. I used to work Monday-Friday 9-5. Super. No complaints here! Then, I knew what day it was! Because if I hadn't worked in 2 days, it had to be Monday. Right? Now, I could've not worked for 2 days and it's Thursday! Can't even base it on whether I had church or not because I work Wednesdays and Saturdays and Sundays as well, on top of whatever I may or may not be involved in church with. Gosh. I'm almost looking forward to university in September solely for the fact that I won't work as much. Yeah, I know, less money, right? I'll find a way to make money. A legal way, no worries. But gosh, right now I'm tired. It's also almost midnight.. wait it is midnight. So now, it's Monday. Geez.
